RYA Level 2 is designed for those who have completed the RYA Level 1 course and want to become a competent sailor in light winds. Completion of this course is the basis from which to further develop your sailing.
Similarly to RYA Level 1, this course involves both practical and classroom elements and follows on from the tasks completed during level 1 training. Training includes:
- Rigging according to the weather conditions
- Additional ropework
- Five essentials of sailing
- Close boat handling and manoeuvring
- Capsize drills
There will also be an introduction to racing including the course and starting procedures.
No special clothing or equipment is required for this course but bringing a change of clothing is recommended. It can get cold out on the water so warm clothing should be considered. Your feet may get wet so wear an old pair of trainers or pumps with a reasonable amount of grip. During the course guidance will be given on specialised clothing and equipment you may wish to invest in.
All training will be carried out by RYA Dinghy Instructors and the club is a recognised RYA Training centre.
